The greatest gift you can give someone is your own personal development...

Jim Rohn

Kia ora, I'm Iain

As the founder of AutSupport NZ, I share knowledge from personal experience, assisting families and neurodivergent youth with care and insight. I have five children; four are young adults, and my youngest has autism with a PDA profile, ADHD, and sensory processing difficulties.

With a background in psychology, I'm a certified Professional Transformational Coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), founder of the PDA Father Figures Facebook Group, and involved in various autism communities across the globe.

My son’s own needs and navigating this as a parent has given me a passion for walking alongside other parents and caregivers of autistic family members. I am driven to support you to find a way through what can often be a rollercoaster of challenges, emotions and uphill battles.

Noticing the Gap

I truly recognise the difficulties in supporting neurodivergent loved ones. My personal experience with my son has been a challenging yet enlightening path, largely self-taught. I've poured over books, joined support groups, and engaged with online resources like webinars and videos.

While these were helpful, they often left me with more questions than solutions. What I really needed was a genuine connection with someone who truly understood my journey and could guide me with insights tailored for my child's needs.

Finding the Support

I often felt buried under a mountain of information, which left me feeling alone. I wished for someone to help me understand my feelings, shape my thoughts, and support me in identifying and reaching the goals for my son and I, so we could flourish as a family.

I realise that my experiences are similar to what many caregivers go through. My turning point came when I saw that existing support systems did not offer the personal touch caregivers need.

Noticing the substantial gap in support inspired me to create AutSupport NZ. This passion stems from the lack of help I experienced. My aim is to offer the support I needed as I navigated tough times.

Drawing from my own experiences as a parent of an autistic child and as a transformation coach, I now offer guidance and coaching to parents and caregivers, helping them manage daily challenges. I also mentor young people through gaming sessions, offering empathy and hands-on advice every step of the way.

Experience matters

My lived experience guides my coaching practice, making sure every session is meaningful and grounded in real understanding.

The AutSupport Philosophy

I'm devoted to helping parents and carers empower themselves by offering a coaching service tailored to their specific needs, based on principles of growth, resilience, and wellbeing.

I provide a safe environment to work together from a holistic viewpoint and use my skills as a Transformational Coach to help you explore and identify your needs and goals, creating actionable steps to move you and your child forward positively.

I also team up with a knowledgeable colleague to identify any additional support you may need and guide you through the complex health and education system. I’ve made AutSupport a donation-based service to ensure accessibility for all families, regardless of their financial situation.

I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how I can help you and your family thrive!
